Parish Pastoral Council Members
12th Sunday of Ordinary Time
From the Pastor
I begin my column by wishing a Happy Father’s Day to all dads. May the Lord guide all fathers to be the examples of faith He expects them to be for their families. Many of us are grateful for the wonderful gift of fatherhood that has touched the lives of so many people.
I’ve chosen to devote most of my column to providing you with an update concerning your Pastoral Council.
Just recently, by means of the bulletin and by means of invitations extended by Pastoral Council members, everyone was given a chance to be considered for nomination for Pastoral Council.
It pleases me to tell you that the response has been very good.
Before I tell you about new members, I thank the following six people whose terms expired this month: Jim Borgen, Geri Borgen, Marlane Bufwack, Teresa Newbrough, Bob Swauger, and David Vlosich. We appreciate their service. According to our By-laws, they must remain off Pastoral Council at least one year before being eligible to serve in this capacity again.
Also, I’d like to continue to encourage our present members. The following seven people continue their terms. They will serve us until June of 2012: Joe Davis, Sarah D’Errico, Michael C. Lastic, Kathy Sylvester, Mike Sylvester, Linda Rossi, and Susan Rossi-Wilcox.
We welcome two new members will serve a one year term. (Their terms expire in June of 2011.) They are: David Buttar and Georgiann “Cricket” Padovani.
We welcome four new members who will serve three-year terms. (Their terms expire in June of 2013.) They are: Mary Ann Davis, Alec Lukasko, Sandy Scott, and Kevin Weeks.
From our membership, it has been determined that Susan Rossi-Wilcox will serve as Chairperson, Michael C. Lastic will serve as Vice-Chairperson, and Sandy Scott will serve as Secretary.
On a lighter note, some have said that the ever-faithful Tzar serves as Sergeant at Arms, but that isn’t exactly official even though that beloved animal is present for most meetings. (Who is Tzar? He has four legs & you’ve probably seen him walking.)
Pastoral Council meetings will resume in September. It is good to be aware of your Pastoral Council news. Remember, Pastoral Council serves as a visionary and consultative body that assists your Pastor in planning for the good of the parish. I strive to listen to members as they reflect your concerns and we do work together to do what is best for the overall well-being of the parish. Please pray for your Pastoral Council, and of course, also for your Pastor. We appreciate it!
