From the Pastor:
Registration is the official way we join a parish. Some people mistakenly believe that just because they happen to live near a particular parish, used to go to its school, or come here once in a while they automatically belong. At times young people who have moved away for years mistakenly believe they are still signed up under their parents. The truth is, they need to register at the parish near their current residence. Children are parishioners under their parents only until they turn eighteen.
Please take a moment here to correct any and all misunderstandings.
Membership in a parish involves signing up, formally enrolling yourself at a parish if you are eighteen years old or older. Registration is a commitment to a community, a way to be included in the religious, social, and ministerial activities. It is also a statement that the member wants to share his or her time, talents, and treasures to support the parish.
For years, we have published the fact on the front of the bulletin that you are registered if you currently receive envelopes from this church. If you do not receive envelopes, you are not registered.
Please register as soon as possible at the parish to which you want to commit your time, talents, and treasures. If you wish to register here, one phone call on your part to 330-652-5825 begins the simple registration process.
Registration demonstrates that you belong. It is also necessary for certain benefits, like scheduling sacraments and obtaining a Sponsor Certificates.
The Pastor may not sign a Sponsor Certificate stating that you are an active member of the parish if you haven’t taken the time to register and demonstrate your commitment to the parish for a period of time before asking for a Sponsor Certificate.
If you register, the parish knows it can count on you and call on you to assist in its mission. Registration is a statement of faith and confidence in the life and work of your parish.
Please be sure to share this information with adults you know who may be interested in the life and mission of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.
Thank you for your dedication to our parish and may God bless you.
~Father Larry Frient
Parish Scholarship Program
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Youth Ministry is starting a Scholarship Program. The goal of the Scholarship Program is to motivate young people of the parish to put their faith into action, especially by taking part in the Youth Ministry programs at the parish. The first scholarships are expected to be granted in the spring of 2011. The number and amount of scholarship awards will vary, based on the funds available, with a minimum amount of $500.00.
In addition to Youth Ministry performing fundraisers with a percentage of the profits going to the Scholarship Program fund, organizations in the parish that currently do fundraising will be invited to designate a percentage of their profits for the fund. In addition, private, public, and business contributions will also be accepted.
