Rededication of Statue Ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church
381 Robbins Avenue Niles, Ohio 44446
July 10, 2010 after the Procession following the 5:00 PM Mass
In 1959, the Mount Carmel Society commissioned a beautiful statue that adorned the south wall of the school building at 309 North Rhodes Avenue.
Many people looked upon the statue and drew inspiration throughout the years the building was used for the purpose of providing a Catholic education for many young people.
Our Pastoral Council members believed it was important for us to preserve the statue here in front of our beautiful church building. The recommendation was made that we should honor and pray in a universal, all-inclusive way for everyone whose lives were touched by Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
At this time of rededication, we remember in prayer a multitude of Mount Carmel Society members, pastors, priests, religious, school principals, teachers, aids, school employees, students, parents, siblings, grandparents, other relatives, friends, associations, clubs, guilds, organizations, societies, volunteers, neighbors, community members here and elsewhere, and many other people whose lives were touched by the love of many associated with Our Lady of Mount Carmel School.
Let us pray: Lord, we thank you for the positive influence Our Lady of Mount Carmel School had in the lives of many people.
We ask God to bless all who continue to live. May He bolster their efforts to be living examples of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We ask God to welcome to His everlasting kingdom all who have completed life’s journey before us. May they rest in peace.
We listen now to a specially chosen Scripture passage in honor of those whose lives have been touched by Our Lady of Mount Carmel School:
Because you are God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with heartfelt mercy, with kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
Bear with one another; forgive whatever grievances you have against one another. Forgive as the Lord has forgiven you.
Over all these virtues put on love, which binds the rest together and makes them perfect.
Christ’s peace must reign in your hearts, since as members of the one body you have been called to that peace.
Dedicate yourselves to thankfulness.
Let the word of Christ, rich as it is, dwell in you.
In wisdom made perfect instruct and admonish one another.
Sing gratefully to God in psalms, hymns, and inspired songs.
Whatever you do, whether in speech or in action, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Give thanks to God the Father through Him
From Colossians 3:12-17
At this time we unveil the statue. Notice that a temporary plaque has been be affixed here near the statue. A more elaborate and permanent plaque will be erected here in the garden in the future. The permanent plaque will say the same thing this plaque says:
